Three Steps Closer to Calm

Feeling more chaotic than calm? Your space plays a major role in your stress level. Here are three easy tips to creating a calmer space.

  1. Start with reducing or adjusting noise. Turn off, unplug, and enjoy quietness. Drive with the radio off or, enjoy soothing music. What mood are you going for? If you need a lift, turn up your favorites! If you play an instrument, this is a great stress reducer and may calm not only you, but others.

  2. Soak up the scent of pine trees, peppermint and fireplaces! Scent is a simple way to bring us into a relaxed state of mind. Aromatherapy is everywhere, so there is no excuse not to fill your space with scents you love.

  3. Dim the lights. One of the easiest ways to set the mood is to adjust lighting. Turn off bright lights and turn on table lamps, or light candles.

Before you wrap presents, or enjoy your dinner, pay attention to your environment and try to create a calm space. Happy holidays and may it truly be “the most wonderful time of the year” for you and your loved ones.
